Samarium Colbalt Disc & Ring Magnets

Samarium Cobalt Magnets (SmCo) are composed of samarium, cobalt and iron. They have a slight gold tinge and are slightly less powerful than Neodymium magnets, offering a high resistance to demagnetization, high energy for size, high operating temperature of up to 250 degrees Celsius and a high resistance to corrosion.

Samariu Cobalt Disc & Ring Magnets

Ideal in a corrosive, high temperature and strong magnetic requirement situation. Example: In Industrial gearboxes to collect iron residue from oil to lengthen the life of the machinery.

Handling: Samarium Cobalt Magnets are very brittle and being very strong magnetically, care is needed when handling. Where possible, especially with larger sizes, use gloves and safety glasses to avoid pinched fingers and eye damage if magnets accidentally crash together and shatter.
Machining: Samarium Cobalt is prone to chipping and hence is not recommended for machining by normal methods. It can be abrasively ground with the addition of a coolant to minimize the risk of fires caused by the oxidized grinding dust and heat fracturing of the material.
